I still give these tire a 5 star, like my prevouis comment these tire are great. I have now 15,000 KM and the tire still look like new. I commute 1175 KM one way ridden in both good and bad condition. Tire handled great in both condition. I'll get you folk posted on how many KM I put on these tire, have a bit more time to ride before the end of the season.

After putting 10k miles on these tires, under heavy rain and in hot and cold weathers, I must update my previous feedback about the Avons. 1. Tire mileage is great - 10k miles so far and more to go. Bridgestones usually live 12-13 k miles. 2. Wet road handling is excellent! 3. Highspeed handling is excellent! 4. Cornering - as I've mentioned before there's no better tire for cornering but Avon! 5. Handling on these tires is sharp unlike on E3. 6. These are defenetly quiet tires. All of the above is true in case you follow the recomended tire pressure 41psi front and 42 psi rear. Avon is very sensitive to the tire pressure, even 2 psi lower make noticeable difference. I wrote about low speed wobbling @ 5 mph - it has gone recently once I've pumped the tires to 43-45 psi according my tire gauge! I took 4 different gauges and all of them showed the different pressure - 5 psi gap! So IMHO - if you feel something wrong with your tire (wobbling, weaving etc), check the pressure with several gauges - yours might be wrong! My front tire already has the groove at the left side that made the handlebar to wobble @ 20 mph. It has gone too after pumping the tire to actual pressure! And sure, I have to mention that my bike has Traxxion front and rear and Seeley damper.

I have 90,000 miles on my Wing. I have run Brigestone (1 set, Dunlop Elite 2 (2 sets),Dunlop elite 3 (2 Sets), Metzler (1 Set),and the Avons I'm running now. By far the Avons are the worst tires I have ever run on any bike I have owned in 500 K of riding. They started to cup at 4 K, started a front end wobble at 5 K, and now the wobble is so bad at 6,500 I have to change tires. I have had the steering bearings checked and have been told it is definitley the tires. I'm going back to Dunlop 3's I don't care if they do sing in the curves their the best I've run so far.

4 stars so far. They have been on for 7,500 miles and I really like them. I'm checking my pressure regularly to ensure maximum life. No real signs of adverse wear to date.

Ooops! I should have updated with my experience/opinion regarding Avon's Cobra tires. I posted an original review dated 9/1/2009. As mentioned, I yet noticed wobble at 15-20mph. Went back and had dealer change rear tire. Boy, what a difference. I now have 11,000 miles on these tires and yet feel good about them. I just came off a 2,400 mile trip through the mountains including the "Tail" in N.C. where my max speed on the Tail was 59.5mph, avg 33.5mph. What can I say, the tires grip when its important, and they are smooth on the highway. When these wear out, I'll buy another set!

What a dissapointment! These were the only tires I havent tried so far. Read many great feedbacks about them and desided to switch. I must say that Avons are the best tires for agressive riding and cornering at hight speeds, this is absolute - I have been changing 3 tire brands one after another during this week. My 3 stars go for low speed (5-10km/h) wobbling that dissapoints me a lot and made me took off these tires.

I gave it a 5 star for now because I have only 2500 KM on these tire. I will be able to see how they are because I starting to comute, and it 1175 Km one way.

The search is over. I have used most all the other "popular" brands and all have at least one drawback. I gave these Avons a try and went on a 2500 mile run right out of the box. I routinely drag pegs through the corners so tire confidence is very important to me. They are very quiet and stick like glue. Ruts, seams and laps in the pavement do not even phase these tires so splitting lanes in traffic no longer provides those "exciting" moments when you find a lap or seam in the pavement. I'm sold and will definitely buy these again. I bought the 70 size based on several of the other reviews. Better cornering, speedo is now correct and the bike is MUCH easier to get up on the center stand. I wont go back to the 60.

I bought a pair of Avon's front and back. I put 16,000 miles on them both. I ran the front tires with dyna beads and the rear with regular stickons. I am very pleased with the ride and mileage. I have put on another pair last week. Do not buy them from dealer, they charged me $281.10 for the rear alone, and that is not even putting it on. Wow they should of kissed me first.

Follow-up to the last review, the tire is on the rim, balanced and MAN WHAT a great ride this is. The cornering improved amazing well and the ride is smooth as silk. I'm sold, I will be buying another set of Avon Cobras in the future for my Wing. DAMN! What a good deal too! $159.00 for a back tire, can't beat that anywhere! Thanks Wing Stuff!

I now have 9000 mi on the Cobras, using Dyna Beads, no suspension mods or fork brace. runing the 70 series rear tire, a 400 rpm drop has occured, speedo is dead on the money. no cupping or excessive wear, the Cobras look like they'll go 15,000.. will buy another set

These are great tires! I currently have 6700 miles on them...one trip from Arkansas to Phoneix, Vegas LA, PCH 1,Monterey,Marysville, CA and back. 118 deg. heat, 2 sandstorms, w/ torrential rain and NO failure! These are confidence inspiring in the rain, track well with no slipping, even at maximum lean! I'm hoping for the mileage close or equal to the E3 Dunlops: 17,000 miles, with no cupping! I don't have the Traxxion fork, or the Centramatic balancers, but I do watch my pressure with a Dowco monitor; 41 psi in both. If the mileage is there, I'll definately get another set!

I’ve run Metzler, Bridgestone, Dunlop and now the Avon. My tires where wearing out every 4k-7k miles with bad cupping and it didn’t matter about the brand. I installed the Traxxion front-end which stopped my wobble and cupping issues. Post Traxxion I put on the Avon tires and like the other reviews there was less road noise, they are great handling and I’m pleased with the wear. I’m having no issues and will buy a new set when the time comes. I’m guessing if I didn’t have the front-end worked on the GL1800 would have ate these tires up too. The GL1800 is an interesting animal … so many different handling experiences from riders. Anyway, five stars from me. I’m including a link below which shows my Elite 3 after a blowout, my new Avon pre and post install and a handful of photos with 8,000 miles on them … judge for yourself. On a side note, I run the bike pretty hard. Good luck and safe riding – James. http://picasaweb.google.com/jssiler1272/GL1800GoldWingAvonCobraNewAndWithWearAlsoDunlopElite3AfterBlowout#slideshow

I too had these installed with the Centramatic Wheel Balancers. The ride has been awesome. With the stock tires I always had a hard time turning without the rear wheel trying to slide out. These babys grab the road like nothing I've had before. And to top it off... The shop that installed these for me tried to tell me that they could have sold them to me for the same price.....Until I showed them the reciept, their jaws dropped. They couldn't come within $100 on the rear alone. Then they tried to tell me they must have been sitting on a shelf for YEARS!!! Not with as many as these guys sell. 5 stars all the way.

I had these installed last year March 16th on my '06 along with a fork brace, the proper steering head bearings and progressive springs. I put over 21,000 miles on these mostly on the LA freeways 500 miles a week. They still track great and are quiet except on right banking turns (not loud or annoying). I do have onboard tire monitoring and keep the tire inflated 41 front 42 rear. I have tried Metzlers (never again), D250's (12K, 10K) and Elite III's which wore out under 5K. I don't know if I am an exception but, the feel, ride and confidence these tires have provided has been perfect on all points. I'm sure the springs, head bearings and brace helped but, the tires are remarkable. Oh...and not one wobble at any speed. Jim E.

I haven't had the chance to put many miles on the new Avon Cobras yet. So far I do like the feel and the quietness. My main reason for this review is to mention something that I am experiencing. I had the 70 series installed on the rear mainly to correct the speedo. The tire does that. A couple things it also does that no one mentioned in their review is it makes my bike noticibly harder to pick up off the side stand and I can't turn the rear tire when on the center stand. I have to be careful when parking to make sure the bike doesn't flop over. First time I rode after tire installation I went to the gas station. When I got ready to ride off the bike was leaning so noticably I got back off to see if I had a flat. Tires are great so far but I will not put the 70 series back on when replacement time comes.
